1 The First Day

Once there was a boy named Isaac. He had two sisters and one brother. They had five days before Mother’s Day and his three siblings had presents, but Isaac did not. He sat thinking with his sister for a long time. He sat on his bed with his sister thinking for about ten hours, but never got an idea. When he came down from his bedroom, his and his sister’s food was cold. He ate it up slowly, then he went to bed. He sat on his bed, thinking until midnight and still got no thoughts. When his sister told their Mom and Dad about him and that he couldn’t think of anything, they thought it was weird because he was the most thoughtful boy in their family.

2 The Second Day

The next day he sat on his bed until 9 o’clock in the morning and then went downstairs and ate some hot breakfast. He made the breakfast himself. Then he sat down with his mom and said, “Mom, I don’t know what to give my grandmas for Mother’s Day. I already have a present for you, except I don’t have anything for my grandmas.” His mom said, “You’ll think of something.” After that, they were quiet and they cuddled on the couch.

At lunch time, Isaac ate his lunch and asked if his mom had any ideas of what he could give his grandmas. She said, “How about you go take a nap and then you’ll be able to think of something?” After he had eaten the rest of his food, he went up to his bedroom and tried to take a little rest. But he couldn’t go to sleep. He sat up on his bed and thought for a couple more hours. Then he finally went to sleep.

When he woke up, his dad was home from work. His dad came up to his bedroom and said, “Maybe if you take a little walk outside, you’ll think of something.” So, Isaac took a walk.

He thought of giving her flowers, but his grandma already had millions of flowers. He thought of buying her a dog, except his grandma was allergic to dogs. He thought of making a bug collection and giving it to her, but his grandma hated bugs. He thought of giving her a toad, but his grandma would drop rocks on toads.

He sat in his hammock for a while, then suddenly he went to sleep. When he woke up, the sun was setting and he could hear the clanking of forks and spoons inside. He jumped out of his hammock and ran inside and sat down at the table and started eating his dinner. He took over his dishes and went straight to bed. That night he didn’t have any trouble sleeping, he just went to sleep.

3 The Third Day

The next day the boy woke up early, he liked to read the morning paper, so he went outside and got it, then went back inside. He went into the kitchen, made a cup of hot chocolate and took it away to the couch and sat down and read the paper.

The first page of the paper said Mysterious Green Flower on Top of Himalayas. It said that the flower only grew in high places and that there was only one of the flowers and it grew inside a great big bowl. The flower was magic. If you boiled it on the stove in a pot of water and then took the flower and put it into the vita-mixer and mixed it with something and then ate it, it would give you the power to get so many ideas that you might sit for two days in the most comfortable chair you have and think. You get so many ideas that you would fall asleep.

That day the boy packed up his clothes and got out a map of the Himalayas and got everything that he needed for a big trip. Then he went to bed.

The next morning he woke up early again. He ate breakfast, packed some food and put on his shoes.

4 The Expedition

He went outside and got his bike, then pushed it into the road, got on, then drove down the road. After a few hours, he was at the end of the road. He ran off the road and drove into the woods. He drove until he found two pine trees and then he stopped. He took off his backpack, took the tent out of his backpack, then he got his blankets and blow-up bed out. After he did that, he made his bed, got in and went to sleep.

The next day he woke up, ate some breakfast, got on his clothes, went outside, took out his blow-up bed, took apart the tent, then put it in his backpack, got on his bike and drove off. It took him two more days to get to the Himalayas.

When he was half-way up, the spikes on his shoes broke and he slid down the mountain. He tried to go up again, but in the middle he slid down and did it again and again and again and again. Tiredly, he lay down on his blankets and took of his shoes and it was then he found out his spikes had broke. So he went and got the other pair of shoes he had brought, which had suction cups on the bottom.

He put them on and tiredly climbed to the top of the mountain. When he got to the top, there wasn’t any glass bowl with a flower in it. So he climbed back down and went to another part of the mountain. He climbed to the top from there and still, there was no glass bowl. Finally, at the last part of the mountain that he climbed up, there was a glass bowl with a flower under it.

Quickly he took out a portable sledgehammer from his backpack and “crash!” …

The boy opened his eyes, he was at the bottom of the mountain now. It was a landslide! Then he saw a flower under a pile of rocks. He took a portable pickax out of his backpack and “tack, tack, tack” it was out.

He took the flower and put it in a jar of water. Then he put away the blankets that he was going to rest on and hopped on his bike and drove home.

5 The Day of Thinking

When the boy got back home, he put the flower in a big pot of water and put it on the stove for 5 minutes on 400 degrees. It started boiling, then he took it off and grinded it up in a vita-mixer. Then he put it in his oatmeal and ate it up. He got hundreds and hundreds of ideas. Then he knew what he would give all of his grandmas. He would secretly ride his bike over to their houses and give them all breakfast in bed. The end.
